I had read a bunch of reviews before I made my mind about which coffee maker to get. I wanted one that’s reliable, yet not too expensive. After a while, I realized that the Keurig Rivo was my best match. In fact, those who owned it were impressed with this top rated coffee machine.
Made by the famous Keurig Company, the first thing you notice is its size. It’s ‘gigantic’ compared to its ‘puny’ competitors. This could be explained by the fact that it’s a two-in-one – espresso and milk frothing machine. This means that you can use it to brew Italian-style espresso, but also café latte, cappuccino, and other beverages.
Design of Keurig Rivo Coffee Maker
As for its looks, this is one mean machine. It is a little on the stocky size and thus needs more space. To be honest, I think it goes with its ‘personality’. The look is stylish and smooth edged and the color is a mix of black and gray. It is made of a mix of metal and plastic. On the left of the machine is a water tank which is pretty big for a machine making only espressos. It is removable and is fit with blue Led lights.
On the front is where all the action really is. There are two areas- one for brewing the espresso and the other for frothing milk. The frothing pitcher is simply cool. It has a spindle shaped whisk and a tube. The tube is for infusing air into the pitcher for making micro-bubbles. It has a max and min level for lattes/cappuccinos. The pitcher slides into the frothing unit and on pressing it a little, you hear a beep sound which indicates it’s snugly fit in and ready to use.
Brewing Coffee is Quite Easy
On the top of the coffee maker are several buttons made of rubber – two of them for short shot espresso and the Lungo respectively. There are three others – for latte, cappuccino and cold frothed milk. When switched on, these buttons light up indicating the machine is heating up. We can use it when the buttons start blinking. The power button is at the base of the right side. In case of inactivity for more than two minutes, it automatically switches off.
Experience the Keurig Rivo here:
Very user-friendly, you need to plug in the machine and put in the Rivo pod, choose one of the two espresso options and within 30 seconds your espresso is ready. Its quality can be seen from the fact that all layers of the beverage are visible. Next comes the frothing part wherein you add the requisite amount of milk. For example, for a latte, I fill in the milk to the max level. Next, put on the lid, put it in the bay and press ‘latte’. It beeps when finished – again a thoughtful addition. The texture of the milk is excellent- all foamy and frothy. All that’s left to do is mix the two together. One of the best features is the cold frothed milk. All types of milk can be used like almond, coconut, soy, etc.
Adjustable Drip Trey Allows You to Use All Kinds of Mugs
The drip tray is impressive. It has two spots for putting your cup – one is placed at the bottom (as is usual) while the other is placed a little above the first one and is foldable. This is used while one is preparing espressos and is a very thoughtful addition. Right behind is the capture bin for all the spent coffee pods which automatically go there after every usage. The drip tray has a little floater ball which pops up the tray when it’s time to clean it up.
Espresso Capsules are Included in the Package
The machine comes with a Rivo Pack of 16 espressos – four each of four different blends. These pods are made by Lavazza, a very famous Italian coffee brand. In addition, the box also has a few tricks to make the machine more efficient and customized along with some very delicious recipes.

Pros & Cons
It’s 2016 and I still haven’t had any problems with this coffee maker. I’ve been impressed with the following features:
- Fast Brewing – The machine is easy to use and brews espresso swiftly.
- Affordable – This coffee maker is surely value for money, considering its quality.
- Durable – This product seems to be made of high-quality materials that guarantee its durability.
- Coffee Exclusive – If you wanted a brewer for other beverages apart from the coffee-based ones, this machine is not for you.
This coffee maker gives you real value for money. You would end up spending way too much if you were to buy both the frothing and espresso machines separately. So the price is actually pretty good. Besides, it does all you could possibly want. Simply put, this coffee maker is Rivo-lutionary!
